There will always be men who look dreadful in them too. I've seen chicken-legged men who suit them really well. But they really need to be Scots, IMO. This extraordinarly hot Asian Glaswegian fella asked me directions on the corner the other day. He was slender, but he looked divine in a kilt. On his way to a wedding. Hot, hot, hot! I had to slow my pace and walk behind him just to see watch him go up the road.
My father is of scottish descent and wore the family tartan for my and my sister's wedding. He looked pretty good in it but he is 6ft 4in and pretty athletic build. My BIL wore the cornish tartan for his wedding and looked good as well also very athletic. I would say it certainly depends on their legs. Yes but some men look ridiculous in them. There's a certain build looks great in them.
Stocky men look good but tall skinny ones don't really suit a kilt. DH wears his any chance he gets and DS looks so cute in his. It also depends if they've been fitted properly.
It looks awful when a kilt is too short or long. If they're wearing dress shoes as opposed to Ghillie brogues, the laces shouldn't be crossed all the way up the legs, they should only go about half way up the shin. My dh is so hot I could jump him in his kilt, but that would lead to next child I think. I like my DH in a kilt He is 6ft and slim but not skinny.
How could you not? Actually, if they're scrawny it doesn't work. Skinny legs aren't good, and they've got to have a bit of a bum to make it swing right. If they've not got a bum it flaps against the back of their legs in a sad, peculiar fashion. Full dress kilts are great, but I'm not a fan of the extra plaid from the shoulder guess that's what you mean by the sash? Mmmm my dh looks incredibly handsome in his kilt. Except for the occasions where we're at an all day wedding and he drinks a little too much. The kilt falls down, the socks fall down, the tie comes off, the waistcoat buckle always comes undone.
Still fancy him though! His cousin is getting married in March and we're having one made for ds who will be 19 months! Dh's tartan is a lovely red one. I'm married now, Grinders. But I could admire him! I told him and then let him walk on ahead so I could watch him.
Yummy scrummy Glaswegian accent as well. Already have a Mumsnet ? Log in. Talk ». First Next Last Go to. Add message Report.
